Build. Break. Fix. Make.
Dr. Brane
The Human-Centered Creation Manifesto
Build. Break. Fix. Make.
We are not anti-AI.
We are anti-abdication.
1. The Human Is the Architect
Every meaningful creation begins with intent.
A human decides what should exist.
A human defines the system.
A human owns the result.
AI can assist in execution.
It does not define direction.
We don’t prompt our way to products.
We build our way there.
2. We Use AI—Deliberately
AI is a powerful tool.
We use it to:
- Accelerate development
- Explore ideas faster
- Reduce repetitive friction
But we use it intentionally, not passively.
AI is part of the process—
not the source of truth.
3. Tools Should Not Require AI to Function
The tools we create must stand on their own.
They must be:
- Understandable without AI
- Maintainable without AI
- Usable without AI
AI can help build the tool.
But the tool should not depend on AI to exist.
If your system collapses without AI,
you haven’t built a tool—you’ve built a dependency.
4. No Tolerance for Slop
Using AI is not an excuse to lower standards.
We reject:
- Output without understanding
- Code no one can maintain
- Design without intention
Speed is useful—but only when paired with clarity.
If it’s not understood, it’s not done.
If it’s not intentional, it’s not yours.
5. Design Over Automation
Not everything needs to be handcrafted line by line.
But everything must be designed.
We care about:
- Systems that make sense
- Constraints that guide creativity
- Tools that empower humans to act
Automation can assist.
Design is what gives it meaning.
6. AI Should Expand Skill, Not Replace It
We use AI to:
- Learn faster
- Build faster
- Iterate faster
Not to avoid learning.
Not to avoid thinking.
Not to avoid building.
The goal is not to remove effort.
The goal is to make effort more effective.
7. Perfection Is a Direction, Not a Promise
We do not promise bug-free code.
Humans don’t produce it consistently.
AI doesn’t produce it consistently.
That’s reality.
What we do promise is this:
- We strive for correctness
- We take responsibility for failures
- We fix what breaks
- We improve what we understand
Quality is not magic.
It is iteration.
8. Creation Requires Ownership
If you cannot explain what you built,
you do not own it.
If you cannot fix it,
you do not control it.
AI can help you get there faster.
But ownership still belongs to the human who understands.
9. Empower Humans, Not Replace Them
Technology should:
- Lower the barrier to entry
- Increase creative output
- Preserve the joy of building
We are not here to replace creators.
We are here to create more creators.
Final Principle
AI is part of our workflow.
It is not the foundation of our work.
We build things that stand on their own—
shaped by humans, understood by humans, and owned by humans.
